Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How long does it take to have a propeller repaired? A: There is a 1 week
turn around for propeller repair.
However, if brought in by Monday it will be ready on Friday.
Q: How much will it
cost to have a propeller repaired? A: Cost is based on diameter
size and number of blades. Repairs
normally run approximately half the cost of a new propeller.
Q: Can a propeller
be re-pitched? A: A propeller can
be pitched up or down two degrees from it’s original pitch. For example: a 19 pitch can be taken down to a 17 or up
to a 21.
Q: What will a
different pitch do to my performance? A: Reducing pitch
increases your RPMs by about 500, which will increase your power on the low end
for a better take off. A lower pitch
may be recommended for pulling skiers and tubers. Increasing your pitch lowers your RPMs by about 500 and gives
you a better top end speed.
Q: What effect does
the cupping on a propeller have on my performance? A:
Cupping (the turning up of the trailing edge of a propeller) adds pitch
to a propeller. Adding cup to a
propeller will decrease RPMs by about 200.
Cupping will also help when there is cavitation.
