Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How long does it take to have a propeller repaired?
A: There is a one week turn around for propeller repair once the propeller is received.  However, if you are in need of it sooner, please contact us prior to repair.  We may be able to do it depending on how much work we currently have.

Q: How much will it cost to have a propeller repaired?
A: Cost is based on diameter size and number of blades. Repairs normally run approximately half the cost of a new propeller.

Q: Can a propeller be re-pitched?
A: Any propeller can be pitched up or down two degrees from it’s original pitch. For example: a 19 pitch can be taken down to a 17 or up to a 21.

Q: What will a different pitch do to my performance?
A: Reducing pitch increases your RPMs by approximately 400 RPMs, which will increase your power on the low end for a better take off. A lower pitch may be recommended for pulling skiers and tubers. Increasing your pitch lowers your RPMs by approximately 400 RPMs and gives you a better top end speed.  When re-pitching your prop, you want to make sure that in result, you do not over-rev  or under-rev your engine.

Q: What effect does the cupping on a propeller have on my performance?
A: Cupping (the turning up of the trailing edge of a propeller) adds pitch to a propeller. Adding cup to a propeller will decrease RPMs by about 100. The extra cupping will also help your boat plane out faster and eliminate cavitation.
